New 2015 Cayenne GTS at LA Auto Show

Porsche’s new Cayenne SUV is making its debut this month at Autohaus. And just in case the Cayenne S and Turbo aren’t enough for you, another option is to be unveiled at the Nov. 19th LA Auto Show: The Cayenne GTS.

Porsche GTS models generally serve as a middle ground in their lineups. The Cayenne GTS lies between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo.
GTS trim offers buyers a selection of performance-oriented options that would cost more if ordered separately.

Upgrades include a standard sport exhaust system, a 20mm lower and retuned suspension, Cayenne Turbo brakes, black 20-inch wheels, a newfront bumper and suede elements throughout the interior. It also gets bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and an engine start-stop system, standard.

Up front, the GTS’s bi-turbo 3.8-liter V6 manages to wring out 434bhp, yielding a 0-62 mph time of 5.2 seconds — 5.1 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package. That’s a full half second quciker than those of the previous Cayenne GTS, with its 4.0L V8. And the new model better fuel economy, too.

Thanks to a new active suspension management system and a 20mm lower ride height, all that power should be availalbe to GTS drivers.

If the GTS looks to be more Cayenne than you need, there’s always the entry-level model, with a3.6-liter V6 capable of hitting 230 km/h and 0-100kph in 7.6 seconds even without turbochargingand while getting up to 30.7mpg.

And, on the other hand, if you want still more Cayenne than the GTS, there’s still the top-of-the-line Turbo. The turbochargers in its 4.8-liter V8 churn 513bhp, sending it from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 278km/h.

“The GTS might just be the perfect blend of performance, efficiency, fun and exclusivity,” says Autohaus Porsche Manager Ray Forster.

The Cayenne line will start at $59,295 for the base model and $96,495 for the GTS, with the Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, and Cayenne S E-Hybrid models positioned between them in the lineup, and the Cayenne Turbo above the GTS.
